How we collect, use, and protect information when you use Pomofocus.

This Privacy Policy explains how Vektosys (“Vektosys,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use Pomofocus at https://pomofocus.vektosys.com (the “Service”).

By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

1. Who We Are

Pomofocus is a browser-based focus timer and productivity tool operated by Vektosys.

2. Summary

  • You do not need an account to use Pomofocus.
  • Your tasks, timer settings, preferences, and session history are stored locally in your browser using localStorage (and similar browser storage where applicable).
  • We do not operate a user account database for Pomofocus, and we do not receive your task lists or timer history as part of normal app use.
  • The Service may display advertisements served by Google AdSense.
  • We may use analytics tools to understand aggregate usage of the Service.
  • Cookies and similar technologies may be used as described in this Policy and our Cookie Policy.

3. Information We Process

3.1 Data stored only on your device

Pomofocus is designed so that productivity data stays on your device. Depending on how you use the Service, your browser may store information such as:

  • Timer mode and duration settings
  • Task titles, notes, completion status, and estimates
  • Session and focus history used for on-device reports
  • Sound, notification, and theme preferences
  • Other app settings you configure

This information is stored in your browser’s localStorage (and may also use related browser storage mechanisms). It is not transmitted to Vektosys servers as part of the core timer and task features.

Important limitations:
Because this data lives in your browser, clearing site data, using private/incognito mode, switching browsers or devices, or uninstalling a Progressive Web App (PWA) may delete or make that data unavailable. We cannot recover localStorage data for you.

3.2 Information you send to us directly

If you contact us by email (for example at pomofocus@vektosys.com), we process the information you provide, which may include your email address, message content, and any attachments or technical details you share. We use this information only to respond to your inquiry and improve the Service where relevant.

3.3 Automatically collected technical information

When you visit the Service, our hosting provider and related infrastructure may automatically process limited technical data that is typical of website delivery, such as:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device and operating system information
  • Referring URL
  • Date and time of requests
  • Pages or assets requested
  • Approximate location derived from IP address (at a coarse level)

This information is used for security, reliability, debugging, abuse prevention, and basic operational metrics.

3.4 Advertising data (Google AdSense)

We may show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may collect or receive information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide, measure, and personalize advertising. This may involve cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies.

3.5 Analytics

We may use analytics services (for example, privacy-conscious or industry-standard web analytics tools) to understand how the Service is used in aggregate. Analytics may process information such as:

  • Device and browser characteristics
  • Approximate geographic region
  • Referral sources
  • Event signals related to feature usage (for example, that a timer was started), without requiring an account

Where analytics are enabled, they are intended to help us improve performance, content, and usability. We do not use analytics to sell your personal information.

If we enable a specific analytics provider, that provider’s privacy policy will also apply to data it processes on our behalf or as an independent controller, as applicable.

4. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or another region with similar laws, we process personal data on one or more of the following bases:

  • Consent, where required for non-essential cookies, certain advertising, or optional analytics.
  • Legitimate interests, such as operating and securing the Service, understanding aggregate usage, responding to support requests, and improving the product, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Contractual necessity, where processing is needed to provide features you request.
  • Legal obligation, where we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.

Because most Pomofocus productivity data remains in your browser and is not sent to us, many GDPR controller obligations for that on-device data do not apply in the same way as for server-stored account data. Where we do process personal data (for example, support emails, logs, ads, or analytics), this Policy describes that processing.

5. How We Use Information

We use information we process to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Display and measure advertising, including via Google AdSense
  • Analyze aggregate usage and diagnose technical issues
  • Respond to support requests and communications
  • Protect the Service against abuse, fraud, and security threats
  • Comply with applicable legal requirements

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Service may use cookies and similar technologies for:

  • Essential site operation and security
  • Remembering preferences (where applicable)
  • Advertising (including Google AdSense)

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect advertising personalization or certain non-essential features; core localStorage-based timer functionality is generally still available.

We do not share your localStorage task or timer data with third parties because we do not receive that data through normal use of the Service.

8. International Transfers

Vektosys may process information in countries other than your own, including through hosting, email, analytics, or advertising partners. Where required by law, we take appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as standard contractual clauses or reliance on an adequacy decision, as applicable.

Google and other third parties may process data globally according to their own policies.

9. Data Retention

  • localStorage data: Retained on your device until you clear it, change browsers/devices, or otherwise remove site data. We do not control that retention period.
  • Support emails: Retained as long as needed to resolve your request and for reasonable business, security, and legal recordkeeping.
  • Server logs and security records: Retained for a limited period consistent with operational and security needs, then deleted or anonymized where practicable.
  • Advertising and analytics data: Retained according to the relevant provider’s policies and our configuration.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the Service and any information we process. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Because your productivity data is stored in your browser, you should also protect access to your device and browser profile.

11. Children’s Privacy

Pomofocus is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us (for example, via email), contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding personal data we hold about you, including rights to:

  • Access the personal data we process about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Delete personal data
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Data portability, where applicable
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

How these rights apply to Pomofocus:

  • For data stored only in your browser’s localStorage, you can access, export (if the Service provides an export feature), or delete it yourself by using in-app controls (where available) or by clearing site data in your browser.
  • For personal data we hold (such as support correspondence), contact pomofocus@vektosys.com. We may need to verify your request before responding.
  • For advertising and analytics cookies controlled by third parties, use the provider’s tools (for example, Google Ad Settings) and your browser controls.

We will respond to verifiable requests within the timeframes required by applicable law.

13. Do Not Sell or Share / Targeted Advertising Choices

We do not sell personal information for money. The Service may engage in advertising that some laws treat as “sharing” or “targeted advertising.” You can limit personalized ads through Google’s settings, browser controls, and any consent mechanisms we provide. Where required, we will honor applicable opt-out signals to the extent we are able to do so technically for our own processing.

14. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or embed third-party services (including ads). Those third parties have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for their content or policies. Review their privacy notices before providing information to them.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest revision. Material changes may also be highlighted on the Service. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy, except where applicable law requires additional consent.
